To Copy or Not

I agree that honesty is the best policy. It’s the way we raised our daughters and it’s the way I teach the children in my class to be contributing citizens to our classroom community. Parents, of course, also play a huge role at home in the way the children come to us at school. I do feel that many of us, however, compete with the way society portrays heroes to the kids in movies, songs, and videos. Honesty and respect are the same things, whether we are talking about copyrights, relationships, or responsibilities to each other. In some communities, role models are scarce. I do realize that we, as teachers, have a bigger job than just teaching the basics. Making sure children understand consequences needs to come from everyone in their lives.

Tuesday’s homework

Reading through tonight’s homework was a great way to reinforce what we learned today in class. I understood more than I thought I did! I am very anxious to try and work with RSS feeds and create an aggregator account. However, because I am a visual person I will need some direction from another person and I will have to do it myself with coaching. All in all, it was a successful day for me.

Great Morning!

As I entered the workshop today, I was overcome with concern about being the one person with the least experience. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was among many people with the same concerns. Lynne and Steve quickly dissolved my fears by being outgoing and friendly which relaxed me and allowed me to take in what they were telling us. Although I still have concerns about being a “dinosaur” here, I feel that I will gain so much this week. I am grateful for the opportunity to be here.
